Access to GP Services

Important Patient Notice – Changes to Accessing GP Services

Dear Patients,

We would like to inform you that the askmyGP service is no longer in use and has been withdrawn from our practice. We understand this may cause some disruption to how you normally contact us, and we appreciate your patience during this transition.

NHS Lanarkshire will be introducing a new digital service called Accurx, which will operate in a similar way to askmyGP. However, please note that Accurx will not be fully accessible until early 2026 in our practice. We will keep you updated as more information becomes available.

New Phone System Launched – Tuesday 4th November

To improve access and reduce call wait times, we have installed a new telephone system that includes a call-back feature. This means:

  • You will no longer need to call multiple times to get through.
  • You can request a call-back and hold your place in the queue.
  • We expect no disruption during the switch-over.

This upgrade is designed to make contacting the surgery more convenient and efficient for you.

Appointments

If you require a GP/ANP appointment and you believe it is urgent and you need to be seen on the day, please contact the surgery before 9am, and we will try to appoint you. If you require a routine appointment, please contact us after 9am, and we will check what is available.

For a house call visit Please contact us before 9am so the GP can assess if there is availability for a house call by the GP or from the urgent care team.

High Demand and Capacity Limits

Please be aware that Newarthill Medical Practice is currently experiencing very high levels of demand. To ensure safe and effective care for all patients, we may need to temporarily close to any requests once we reach clinical capacity.

This decision is never taken lightly and is made to protect patient safety and ensure our team can provide appropriate care to those already in the system.

If your request is urgent please contact the surgery first thing before 9am.
